Casa da Cultura Funaná restaurant in Cape Verde offers not only tasty food and a thriving atmosphere, but a collection of artefacts, too, as a unique museum actually lives inside this popular eating and drinking spot.
Funaná is the most typical restaurant of the island, awarded in 1994 under the label “living museum”.
Here you will discover the history and traditions of the islands through reproductions of emblematic houses, places and sculptures.
During the guided tours, you will discover the Cape Verdeans in their daily life occupations: working the land, grinding with a pestle, at the mill, etc.
The visit includes a tasting ofaguardientes, liqueurs or fidjós (fritters) with honey or sugar
For an exciting night out in Cape Verde, check out Funana Casa da Cultura’s ‘Crazy Thursdays’ – a night filled with party music for you to dance the night away to, starting at 11 pm and running through into the early hours of 1 am. Even better, upon arrival visitors receive a welcome drink to enjoy.

The interactive museum is the only one of its kind on Sal and is therefore a must do activity during your Cape Verdean holiday. Entry to the museum is only 6 Euro’s and includes a guided tour and an opportunity to sample typical Cape Verdean food and drink, such as Cous Cous, Grogue and liqueur. Highlights of the tour also include Cape Verdean music, and dancing displays. Cape Verdean Souviners can also be purchased from the shop at the end of your tour.
The Funana is fun for all the family and has a fantastic beach front loaction. Restaurants on site, include typical Cape Verdean food, seafood, BBQ and pizza. There is also a bar and large seating area. Funana visitors can also use the sun loungers and there is also a playground to keep the children entertained.
Every Friday and Saturday at 8pm there is the Cape Verdean evening which is packed full of fun and energy. Entry is free and you can choose to eat from the A la Carte menu or enjoy the award winning Cape Verdean buffet which is only 20 Euro’s. Enjoy typical Cape Verdean music from Gaita’l Funana and Milu de Funana both guaranteed to get you on the dance floor.
If you’re looking for a relaxing and chilled out event, Criol Sunday’s is a great opportunity to visit the Funana and enjoy a special BBQ buffet cooked on the charecoal grill. The price is only 6 Euro’s and also includes a drink. Entertainment is also provided.
